Towing, payload, and capability
Towing — capacity varies by battery pack
The R1T's tow rating depends on battery configuration: 7,700 pounds with the Standard or Large battery, and 11,000 pounds with the Max battery (Dual Max, Tri Max, Quad Max trims). The 11,000-pound rating matches or exceeds most internal-combustion midsize pickups and beats the F-150 Lightning's 10,000 lb. Real-world towing range drops 40-50% from the unloaded EPA estimate — a Max battery R1T rated for 420 miles unloaded typically returns 200-240 miles when towing a 6,000-pound travel trailer at highway speeds. Payload and bed configuration
Payload capacity is up to 2,317 pounds — adequate for typical pickup use cases (family weekend, contractor loads, recreational gear). Bed dimensions: 54 inches long (with tailgate up), 65 inches wide between wheel wells, 4-foot-by-8-foot sheet capacity with tailgate down. The frunk adds an additional 11 cubic feet of dry, lockable storage that most pickup buyers don't anticipate using until they have it.
Off-road capability

Range and charging strategy
Peak DC fast charging on the Max battery reaches approximately 220 kW, with a 10-80% charge time around 35-40 minutes at high-output stations. The Standard battery charges slightly faster on a percentage basis but takes a similar absolute time due to smaller capacity.
Adventure Network is Rivian's dedicated charging network, designed to support both unladen and trailer-towing arrivals (longer pull-through stalls). Combined with broad CCS and NACS compatibility, R1T owners have access to one of the most comprehensive charging footprints among EV pickup options.
Home charging at Level 2 (240V, 11.5 kW) delivers approximately 30-35 miles of range per hour, sufficient to fully recharge from depleted overnight on the Standard and Large batteries. Max battery requires a longer charge window — consider Xcel Energy's overnight time-of-use rates to minimize cost.
